Abstract

The article provides a summary of the World Social Forum (WSF) 2024 held in Kathmandu. The WSF is an open space for civil society movements to come together, share practices, and develop solidarity and collaboration. The themes of the forum included economic inequality, land and agriculture, climate justice, labor and migration, and discrimination based on work and descent. The article highlights the importance of peasant and low-caste movements in the global South and the need for radical action. It also mentions the Vikalp Sangam movement in India, which focuses on grassroots alternative economies. The article discusses the issues of labor exploitation and caste discrimination in South Asia and the efforts to build an alternative economy.
