Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan investigated the postoperative soft tissue changes in patients with mandibular prognathism, focusing on those with different facial skeletal patterns. The study found that hyperdivergent patients with skeletal class III had thinner preoperative soft tissue thickness compared to normodivergent patients. Additionally, postoperative changes in soft tissue thickness were significantly larger in the hyperdivergent group. The study also identified a correlation between postoperative superior movement of certain points and the change in soft tissue thickness. This research provides valuable insights into the effects of mandibular setback surgery on patients with mandibular prognathism. [Extracted from the article]
