Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom focused on the impact of pregnancy on the pharmacokinetics of antiviral drugs. The study used Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to simulate clinical studies and predict the pharmacokinetics of two drugs, lamotrigine and raltegravir, during pregnancy. The researchers successfully developed and validated a PBPK model for these drugs in pregnancy population models. This study provides valuable insights into how pregnancy affects the disposition of drugs and may contribute to the future prediction of pharmacokinetics in pregnant individuals.
