Abstract
- A new report from Universitas Sebelas Maret in Surakarta, Indonesia, discusses the role of the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) as a prognostic predictive marker in adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The study conducted a systematic review of relevant studies and found that a high level of admission PLR may independently predict an increasing mortality risk in 30 days and adverse outcomes in 6 months following TBI. However, one study suggests that PLR may have limited value compared to other hematological parameters. The research concludes that PLR can be utilized as a simple, low-cost, and routine hematological examination in rural practice. [Extracted from the article]
