Abstract

A new study conducted by researchers from the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. has identified different subtypes of sepsis based on gene expression in the host. The study analyzed the response to sepsis in participants from West Africa, Southeast Asia, and North America, and identified four sepsis subtypes with varying mortality rates. The findings provide insights into the molecular endotypes of sepsis and suggest potential immunotherapeutic interventions and biomarkers for predicting outcomes. The study highlights the need for precision medicine approaches to address the heterogeneity of sepsis and improve therapeutic interventions. [Extracted from the article]
