Abstract

A new study on pheochromocytoma, a rare tumor that produces catecholamines and sometimes ACTH, causing Cushing syndrome, has been published. The study presents the case of a 71-year-old woman with cyclic ectopic ACTH secretion from a pheochromocytoma. The patient underwent adrenalectomy and experienced normalization of blood pressure and suppression of cortisol and ACTH levels. The study emphasizes the importance of considering pheochromocytoma in cases of ACTH-dependent hypercortisolism with elevated metanephrines and an adrenal mass. [Extracted from the article]
