Abstract

In this paper, wound dressing materials made of silk fibroin (SF) and transgenic SF with Arg-Gly-Asp motifs (TG-RGD SF) were developed. Initially, an animal evaluation experiment with mice to demonstrate the usefulness of SF film as a wound dressing was performed. The amorphous SF film was shown to promote the formation of granulation tissue and neovessels in the dermis, leading to skin regeneration. As a result, amorphous SF film is suitable for use as a wound dressing materials. Then, the SF- Human umbilical vein endothelial cells signaling pathway was determined by cell proliferation assay with pharmacological inhibitors. Subsequently, a mice evaluation experiment to assess the promotion of healing effects using TG-RGD SF was conducted and the results were compared with those obtained using SF. In the wound area evaluation and the quantitative evaluation of granulation tissue formation, the TG-RGD SF film promoted dermis regeneration more than the SF film. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
