Abstract
- Elevated levels of cyanide have been detected in a waterway near Victoria Gold Corp.'s Eagle Mine in Canada's Yukon Territory. The cyanide contamination was caused by an equipment failure and landslide at the mine site. The Yukon Mining Minister expressed concern about the potential impact on fish. Victoria Gold, however, claims that it has not detected elevated cyanide levels downstream of its property. The company has suspended operations at the mine and has received notices of default from its lenders. [Extracted from the article]
