Abstract

The study focuses on initial public offerings (IPOs) listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) during the period 2000 to 2021. The study found 527 IPOs issued over those two decades after excluding further public offerings (FPOs) and rights issues. These IPOs raised 3.06 tn from the capital market. Out of the 527 IPOs, 60 companies have been delisted, and 29 stocks are thinly traded on the NSE. These 29 companies constitute around 20% of the total IPOs issued during the period of analysis. The paper highlights the IPO trends, industry participation, and the causes for the delisting and disappearance of companies from the Indian stock market. According to the findings, noncompliance with regulatory requirements combined with corporate governance issues caused IPOs to be delisted and disappear from the Indian stock market.
