Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Technology-Iraq explores the design and manufacturing of custom 3D printed bone implants for medical surgery. The study investigates the use of additive manufacturing, specifically 3D printing, to create customized implants that meet surgical requirements. The research utilizes CT scans to capture implant shape data, which is then processed using a systematic approach to generate the final design of the implants. The study concludes that this approach enables the creation of complex implant geometries that would otherwise be challenging to manufacture. The technique shows promise for the future of medical surgery and orthopedics, provided that biocompatible materials are used. [Extracted from the article]
