Abstract
- A new report discusses research findings on adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), a rare and highly malignant tumor of the adrenal gland. ACC shares similar characteristics with the less malignant pheochromocytoma (PHEO), making accurate diagnosis challenging but important. The study aimed to differentiate between ACC and PHEO using radiomics features based on contrast-enhanced CT. The researchers developed and tested a radiomics model that exhibited a significant improvement in diagnostic performance over experienced radiologists, which may aid clinical decision making and improve treatment outcomes for ACC. This is the first multi-institutional study to develop an interpretable radiomics model for differentiating between ACC and PHEO. [Extracted from the article]
