Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Utah aimed to predict mortality risk in patients with immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) using a machine learning approach. The researchers validated the French Thrombotic Microangiopathy (TMA) Reference Score in the United States Thrombotic Microangiopathy (USTMA) iTTP database and developed a novel mortality prediction tool called the USTMA TTP Mortality Index. The machine learning model selected 8 variables to predict acute mortality with promising results. The researchers concluded that machine learning models show promise in clinical prediction tools in healthcare. Further studies are needed for external validation. [Extracted from the article]
