Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Virginia has found that multi-peptide vaccines can remain stable and retain their amino acid sequence identity for up to five years when stored at -80 degrees Celsius. However, this temperature requirement poses a challenge for storage and distribution in low-resource environments. The researchers discovered that when stored at +4 degrees Celsius or at room temperature for up to three months, 17 out of 18 peptides remained stable, with only one peptide showing an increase in an oxidized methionine residue. These findings suggest that peptide-based vaccines can be made more accessible to resource-limited communities. [Extracted from the article]
