This article provides tips and techniques for improving classroom-developed assessments, with a focus on multiple-choice tests in career and technical education (CTE) classrooms. The article emphasizes the importance of aligning tests with instructional content and ensuring that they measure current concepts and skills. It suggests determining the scope of the test, writing fair questions that account for diverse student populations, mixing modalities whenever possible, and evaluating the effectiveness of the assessment.
