Abstract

This article reports the first occurrence of Calonectria henricotiae causing box blight in Spain. The researchers visited boxwood gardens and street plantings in Madrid, Toledo, and Sainte-Foy-la-Grande to collect diseased twigs. The collected samples were analyzed in the laboratory, and it was confirmed that the pathogen responsible for the box blight was Calonectria henricotiae. This finding is important for understanding the distribution of the fungus and preventing its spread to other countries. The research was funded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. [Extracted from the article]
