Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Life Sciences Lublin in Poland has found that Hepatozoon canis, a tick-borne protozoal disease, is prevalent in dogs in the Lublin Voivodship area. The study detected the genetic material of H. canis in blood samples collected from dogs suspected to have tick-borne diseases. The research suggests that infections with H. canis should be considered in the diagnosis of vector-borne diseases in dogs in Poland, and accurate identification of the infection agent is crucial for developing the correct treatment regimen and prognosis. The study has been peer-reviewed and published in the Polish Journal of Veterinary Sciences. [Extracted from the article]
