Abstract

A recent study conducted at Soroti University in Uganda examined the immunohistochemical expression of Ki-67 and p53 in patients with ameloblastoma, a locally aggressive tumor with a high recurrence rate. The study found that 52.5% of patients had Ki-67 expression and 85.0% had p53 expression. Recurrence was associated with the conventional histological type, segmental resection, tumor size, and high p53 expression. The study concluded that almost half of the cases in the study experienced recurrence, and p53 expression was significantly higher than Ki-67 expression.
