Abstract
- Turmeric futures on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) have experienced a decline due to speculators selling off their positions, weak demand from the export market, and higher prices coupled with tighter supplies. Additionally, reports of favorable weather conditions and increased planting progress in key turmeric-growing states have further contributed to the decrease in prices. It is estimated that the area under turmeric cultivation will increase by 9%-10% in the 2025-26 marketing year, potentially leading to a 6% year-on-year increase in production. The August and October delivery contracts on NCDEX have both seen decreases in trading prices. [Extracted from the article]
