Abstract

The article reports on the National Conference and the twentieth anniversary meeting of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), to be held at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Washington D.C. from August 29-31, 1957. Professional computer people and others interested in the data processing field will have the opportunity to hear the anecdotes, memories and future thinking of the pioneers who launched the development of the electronic computer at a special historical session of the ACM 20th Anniversary Conference. ACM is instituting a new type of session in conjunction with this meeting. In order to improve the communication between members and the national organization, the ACM Executive Committee will meet with the membership in open session. Members of the Executive Committee will make short presentations on activities and plans of the Association. The goal of the ACM Forum is to provide information to the members as well as feedback to the ACM administration on matters of current interest and importance. distinguished speakers will include Dr. Emanuel G. Mesthene and Senator Edmund S. Muskie.
