Abstract
- A recent report from Baylor College of Medicine discusses the use of a minimally invasive technique called cold fibrillatory cardiac arrest (CFCA) in patients who have previously undergone cardiac surgery. The study reviewed data from 34 patients who underwent reoperative minimally invasive mitral valve surgery using CFCA. The results showed that CFCA was well tolerated in this high-risk population, with no impairment of myocardial function or increased risk of stroke. The researchers concluded that CFCA is a safe alternative for patients with prior cardiac surgery. [Extracted from the article]
