Abstract
- A new report from Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, presents fresh data on acute liver failure (ALF) as a consequence of dengue infection. The researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies to assess the incidence and mortality of ALF in dengue patients. The analysis revealed that the pooled incidence of ALF in cases of general dengue infection was 2.0%, with higher rates in children and severe dengue cases. The mortality rate of dengue-associated ALF was found to be 47.0%. These findings highlight the detrimental impact of dengue infection on the development of ALF, a relatively uncommon but life-threatening condition. [Extracted from the article]
