Abstract
- A recent report from Uppsala University in Sweden discusses the advancements in treatments for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and the increased susceptibility to infections among survivors. The study found that the infection rate among MCL patients was twice as high compared to a control group, with a notable increase in infection rates starting four years before MCL diagnosis. Influenza, pneumonia, bacterial infections, urinary tract infections, and acute upper respiratory infections were the most common infections experienced by MCL patients. The study emphasizes the importance of assessing infectious morbidity when evaluating new treatments for MCL. Further research is needed to explore strategies for reducing the burden of infectious diseases in MCL patients. [Extracted from the article]
