Abstract

The article discusses the concept of adult role models in child and youth care (CYC) and raises questions about the assumptions and implications of this practice. The author challenges the definition of "adult" and questions whether success in business and financial matters should be the primary goal of role modeling. They argue that equating adulthood with financial success may perpetuate inequality and marginalization. The article also examines the gendered aspects of role modeling and suggests that framing social inequities within the parameters of masculinity can obscure broader structural issues. The author calls for a collaborative approach to care that challenges binary constructs and works towards building equitable relations. [Extracted from the article]
