Abstract

The Journal of Intensive Care (JINC) has been consistently ranked within quartile 1 (Q1) in the category of Critical Care Medicine, according to the 2024 Journal Citation Reports. The journal was established in 2013 as the official journal of the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine (JSICM). Despite initial doubts about the need for a new journal in the field, JINC has seen a steady increase in submissions, with over 75% coming from other continents. The journal's efforts to expand its international reach have been successful, with a significant number of website visitors from the United States. JINC was listed on the Science Citation Index Expanded in 2019 and received its first impact factor in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic further increased the number of paper submissions. The journal's editors and board members have made significant efforts to advance JINC and improve the quality of clinical practice. The author expresses appreciation and congratulations to all those involved in the success of the journal. [Extracted from the article]
