Abstract

A study conducted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst compared the acoustic measures of healthy speakers and speakers with dysphonia using three different acoustic analysis software programs (AASPs): Multidimensional Voice Program (MDVP), Praat, and TF32. The study found that there were differences in the results obtained from each program, both for healthy speakers and those with dysphonia. The researchers concluded that visual inspection of waveforms should be conducted before conducting acoustic analysis, and that voice outcomes should not be combined or compared across different AASPs. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Voice. [Extracted from the article]
