Abstract

Female lions, or lionesses, play a crucial role in their pride by working together to hunt, raise cubs, and maintain the group's cohesion. While male lions are known for their size and roar, it is the lionesses who do most of the hunting, as they are smaller, faster, and better at hiding in the grass. They employ strategic tactics during the hunt, but their success rate is relatively low. In addition to hunting, lionesses also participate in cub care, with females in the pride nursing each other's cubs. Lions are social animals, living in prides consisting of mostly females and cubs, along with a few male lions. However, the lion population has significantly declined due to human activities such as habitat destruction and killing lions to protect livestock. [Extracted from the article]
