Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Boston Children's Hospital explores the recovery of skin barrier function after mechanical injury. The study, conducted on mice, found that basophils, a type of blood cell, play a protective role in this process. Basophils were found to counteract the adverse effects of IL-17A, a protein involved in inflammation, on the expression of genes important for skin barrier integrity. The findings suggest potential interventions to accelerate the recovery of skin barrier function. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.
