Abstract

A scoping review conducted by the University of Surrey in Guildford, United Kingdom, aimed to understand the money-management behaviors and psychological determinants among undergraduate students. The review analyzed 12 papers, reporting on 10 distinct studies, and identified 15 money-management behaviors and 22 potential correlates. The study found that financial beliefs and knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy and control, and social support from parents and peers were generally associated with better money management practices. The researchers concluded that future studies should adopt theories and concepts from behavioral science to further understand the impact of different money-management behaviors and their specific determinants on students.
