Abstract
- A recent report from Harvard Medical School discusses the role of the splicing factor CCAR1 in the Fanconi Anemia/BRCA pathway. The researchers found that CCAR1 is involved in the repair of DNA interstrand cross-links and is required for the expression of the FANCA protein. They also discovered that CCAR1 interacts with the U2AF heterodimer of the spliceosome and is necessary for the removal of a poison exon in the FANCA transcript. Overall, this study highlights the importance of CCAR1 as a splicing modulator in various cellular pathways. [Extracted from the article]
