Abstract

Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital and MIT have developed an implantable device called "iSOS" that can detect and reverse opioid overdoses. The device continuously monitors vital signs and delivers naloxone automatically when it detects an overdose. In preclinical studies, the device effectively detected and reversed opioid overdoses. The researchers are now working to further optimize and miniaturize the device before conducting human testing. The device could be particularly useful for individuals who have previously overdosed and may be more effective than wearable devices. [Extracted from the article]
