Abstract

Researchers at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research have discovered a rare case of left ventricular apical aneurysm in a 37-year-old woman with Takayasu arteritis (TA) and normal epicardial coronaries. TA is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by large vessel vasculitis involving the aorta and its branches. The patient also had concomitant chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection, which potentially exacerbated the inflammatory process in TA and complicated management and patient outcomes. This finding highlights the importance of considering viral infections in the context of cardiovascular diseases. [Extracted from the article]
