Abstract

This document is a correction notice for an article titled "Eating Disorder Symptomatology Among Adolescents Presenting for Bariatric Surgery Candidacy: Examining Differences by Sex and Racial Minority Status" published in Obesity Surgery. The authors found duplicate cases in the original article, but the study's findings remain largely unchanged after excluding the duplicate data. The document provides revised numeric information and updated tables, including demographic characteristics of the participants, the prevalence of eating disorder symptoms, and differences in disordered eating behaviors based on sex and racial/ethnic background. The study compares disordered eating behaviors across different racial and ethnic groups and finds no significant differences in eating disorder diagnoses or binge eating episodes among non-Hispanic White, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic minority individuals. However, there is a higher prevalence of excessive exercise among Hispanic individuals compared to non-Hispanic White and non-Hispanic minority individuals. The study suggests the need for further research to better understand the relationship between race, ethnicity, and disordered eating behaviors. [Extracted from the article]
