Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Missouri explored the use of pupil dilation and problem-solving time as indicators of student learning outcomes in Augmented Reality (AR) educational settings, specifically in engineering education. The researchers developed an innovative AR learning platform that incorporated eye-tracking technology to collect data on pupil dilation and problem-solving duration. The study found that problem-solving time was a critical factor in predicting student learning success for materials involving procedural knowledge at low difficulty levels. Additionally, both pupil dilation and problem-solving time were predictive indicators of student learning outcomes for predominantly procedural knowledge at high difficulty levels.
