Abstract

Researchers from the University of Ulsan College of Medicine in South Korea have published a case report on Acanthamoeba keratitis, a sight-threatening cornea disease caused by Acanthamoeba species. The researchers present a case of a 12-year-old girl with symptoms of pain, irritation, and hyperemia in the left eye. The diagnosis was made without culture, using staining and morphological characteristics. The study highlights the importance of maintaining inspection capabilities in clinical microbiology laboratories for the accurate diagnosis of Acanthamoeba keratitis. [Extracted from the article]
