Abstract
- Researchers at Xi'an Jiaotong University in China have published a report on the practical turn in philosophy and its relationship with psychology and psychiatry. The report discusses how philosophical practice, rooted in ancient traditions, can be enriched by modern techniques such as individual counseling and group dialogues. Philosophical counseling, which uses traditional philosophical frameworks and rational reasoning, offers an alternative to psychotherapy while respecting individual autonomy. The report also highlights the growing interest in Asian philosophies in the West and the potential for philosophical counseling to address existential issues and expand its scope to personal guidance and conflict resolution. The future of philosophical counseling depends on societal trends towards secularization and the recognition of philosophy's practical value. [Extracted from the article]
