Abstract

A recent study conducted at Netaji Subhash Engineering College in Kolkata, India, has developed a student psychology-based optimization (SPBO) tuned proportional-integral derivative accelerator (PIDA) controller to address the frequency regulation issue of an interconnected microgrid system. The proposed control scheme was found to be effective for higher-order system configurations and showed improved responses in terms of peak over/under shoots, oscillations, and settling time compared to available control schemes. The study also presented an improved tie-line model that considers the effect of line resistance along with the line reactance to replicate a practical microgrid scenario. The research was conducted using MATLAB 2016a. [Extracted from the article]
