Abstract

A recent study conducted at Oslo University Hospital explored the effects of mild hypercapnia on myocardial injury in patients with cardiac arrest. The study found that mild hypercapnia did not improve neurological outcomes for resuscitated out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients. However, in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), mild hypercapnia was associated with lower levels of cardiac troponin T and lactate, as well as improved cardiac performance. The study suggests that mild hypercapnia may have potential benefits for AMI patients, but further research is needed. [Extracted from the article]
