Abstract

New research from Harbin Medical University in China has developed a new method for detecting beta-estradiol, an active hormone in steroids that plays a vital role in human reproductive and non-reproductive systems. The researchers used copper ferrite nanoparticles and laser-induced graphene to functionalize screen-printed carbon electrodes, which demonstrated a synergistic effect on the catalysis of beta-estradiol. The sensor showed good selectivity, reproducibility, stability, and anti-interference performance, making it potentially valuable for detecting female reproductive-related diseases. The study was published in the Chemical Engineering Journal and was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Scientific Research Fund of Heilongjiang Provincial Scientific Research Institutes.
