Abstract

A study conducted by the China National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases investigated the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate/glutamine (Glx) in patients with New daily persistent headache (NDPH). The study used magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to analyze the neurotransmitter levels in the periaqueductal gray (PAG) and dentate nucleus (DN) of the brain. The results showed that there were no significant differences in GABA and Glx levels between NDPH patients and healthy controls. However, certain clinical scales were found to be correlated with the neurotransmitter levels, suggesting a relationship between NDPH symptoms and these levels. [Extracted from the article]
