Abstract

A patent has been issued for a patient proning device that aims to reduce staffing requirements and facilitate the safe and effective proning of immobilized patients. The device includes a conformable structure that adapts to the shape of the patient and a shell that imparts a substantially elliptical cross-sectional shape to the device, allowing for rotation of the patient within the device. The device also features a low-friction interface to further facilitate rotation. The patent was assigned to Children's Medical Center Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts.
