Abstract

A recent research study conducted by the University of Tunis El Manar in Tunisia investigated inflammatory markers associated with cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis (CLV). The study aimed to compare these markers and determine their potential role in distinguishing between secondary leukocytoclastic vasculitis (SLV) and idiopathic leukocytoclastic vasculitis (ILV). The study included 77 patients with CLV, with 52 in the SLV group and 25 in the ILV group. The results showed significant differences in mean values of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), C-reactive protein (CRP)-to-albumin ratio (CAR), and fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) between the two groups. The study concluded that elevated ratios of PLR, CAR, and FAR are associated with SLV, suggesting the need for further exploration of patients with elevated ratios. [Extracted from the article]
