Abstract

A recent preprint abstract from biorxiv.org discusses the maturation pathway of a eukaryotic virus, specifically the non-enveloped, T=4, ssRNA-containing Nudaurelia capensis omega virus (N{omega}V). The study used cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to analyze the structures of five intermediates in the maturation process of the virus. The researchers were able to observe unique trajectories and refolding of subunit regions, including the formation of an autocatalytic cleavage site. This study provides a detailed description of the maturation pathway for a eukaryotic virus, which has been elusive in previous research. However, it is important to note that this preprint has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
