Abstract
- This article discusses the role of neuroimmune interactions in the development of asthma. It focuses on the activation of group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) in response to allergen inhalation. The study found that neuromedin U (NMU), a neuropeptide released by neurons, is involved in the early activation of ILC2s in patients with asthma. However, NMUR1, the receptor for NMU, is not specifically expressed on ILC2s in humans. The study also suggests that corticosteroids can suppress NMUR1 expression in ILC2s. While this research provides valuable insights into the role of neuropeptides in asthma, further studies are needed to fully understand the mechanisms involved. [Extracted from the article]
