Abstract
- We present a study on low-energy electron capture ratios for three distinct nuclei (<superscript>127</superscript>Xe, <superscript>207</superscript>Bi, <superscript>236</superscript>Np). This investigation utilizes a self-consistent computational approach, which encompasses considerations such as electron screening, electron correlations, overlap, exchange corrections, and shake-up and shake-off atomic effects. The electronic wave functions are computed using the Dirac-Hartree-Fock-Slater method. A noteworthy aspect of our calculations involves an energy balance approach that relies on atomic masses. This approach avoids the need for approximating the electron's total binding energy and, as a result, permits a more precise determination of the neutrino energy. In this study, we provide in-depth results for the above nuclei, highlighting peculiar behavior in the dominant shell from which the electron is captured during the decay process.
