Abstract

Researchers at the University of Colorado have conducted a retrospective review of patients who underwent transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) to identify factors that may contribute to restenosis, a known complication of the procedure. Of the 61 interventions analyzed, 18% developed restenosis within a median follow-up period of 345 days. The study found that younger age, prior endarterectomy, and a history of neck radiation were associated with restenosis. The researchers also noted inconsistencies in the diagnosis of restenosis between different imaging modalities, suggesting that current surveillance methods may need to be reconsidered.
