Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Montana State University explored the use of hand gestures to improve language comprehension in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in rural areas. The study found that combining specific gestures with determiner phrases improved language comprehension in children with ASD and DLD, as well as typically developing children. The findings suggest that incorporating gestures into interventions can support communication in rural and underserved families. This research provides valuable insights into improving language skills for children with ASD and DLD. [Extracted from the article]
