Abstract

A new study conducted by researchers at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona explores the effectiveness of sensory integration exercises on social interactions and stereotyped behaviors in children with autism spectrum disorder. The study used a semi-experimental design with an experimental group receiving sensory integration intervention and a control group receiving no intervention. The findings showed that after the intervention, there was a significant difference in the scores of stereotyped behaviors and social interactions between the two groups, indicating that sensory integration exercises can reduce stereotyped behaviors and improve social interactions in children with autism spectrum disorder. The study suggests the use of sensory integration exercises to improve social interactions and reduce stereotyped behaviors in this population. [Extracted from the article]
