Abstract

A recent study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Uttarakhand, India, found that oral folinic acid supplementation can improve symptoms in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study involved a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 40 participants in each group. The results showed that the group receiving folinic acid had higher improvements in autism symptom severity compared to the placebo group. Additionally, the study found that children with high titers of folate receptor autoantibodies experienced more pronounced benefits from the supplementation. The research concluded that oral folinic acid supplementation is safe and effective in reducing the severity of ASD symptoms, particularly in children with high titers of autoantibodies.
