Abstract

A recent study conducted by Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey, examined the effects of perioperative active warming on pediatric patients undergoing surgery. The study found that active warming, using forced-air warming gowns and carbon fiber blankets, resulted in higher core body temperatures and reduced postoperative pain and shivering compared to conventional passive warming methods. The research included 70 children aged 2-6 years undergoing elective surgeries. However, the study excluded children undergoing emergency surgery or surgeries involving major body cavities, as well as those with endocrinological pathologies or baseline fever.
