Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Taipei Medical University in Taiwan aimed to evaluate the impact of different pre-transplant local treatments on the survival of liver transplantation recipients with BCLC Stage A Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC). The study analyzed data from the Taiwan Cancer Registry and National Health Insurance Research Databases from 2012 to 2018. The findings showed that undergoing hepatectomy prior to liver transplantation was associated with superior survival outcomes compared to solely local treatments. The researchers concluded that hepatectomy should be considered as a vital component of the treatment strategy for patients with BCLC Stage A HCC. [Extracted from the article]
